With so many outstanding books to choose from, why is it that we now see complete garbage infesting our school libraries? Why does the woke crowd seem so intent on pushing inappropriate reading materials to the youngest and most vulnerable within our society? Why are those on the extreme left looking to normalize outlandish ideas?
Many have reached the conclusion that this is all part of a concerted effort to destroy the family structure, American society, and ultimately the exceptional experiment that is the United States of America. Could that be what's going on today? Frankly, I can think of no better explanation. We must push back against this if we are to preserve our way of life.
Reading Should Be Uplifting
What we read, especially in the early years, should edify and encourage. Unfortunately, that is not the case in today's schools.
For the record, no, Moms for Liberty is not working to "ban" books. If a parent wishes to have their children read these pornographic or woke materials, while many of the mama bears in our organization would vehemently disagree with the practice, it is completely up to the parents in question. But enough parents, people who pay property taxes and expect proper education for their children, want nothing to do with seeing porn in school libraries.
Julie Gephart in Florida states tthe situation very well. We could not agree more:
"This is about discretion. Schools should not be able to approve harmful literature. This is educational malpractice. [...]
"If it can't be printed in a newspaper, if it's illegal to hand to a child outside of school, if it can't be posted on social media (which, ironically, you'll be banned if you do), if it can't be shown on the news, and if it's blocked by the server from reaching the Department of Education because of the explicit content, it should not be offered to children."
Young minds should not be subjected to this nonsense. Their educational journey should start off well, and it is high time we make sure that it does.
Reading opens the mind.
Reading should not be presented to children as a chore, or a duty. It should be offered as a gift.
So writes children's fiction author Kate DiCamillo. Yes, the gift of reading is something which follows a person throughout their life. It is very special and hugely impactful.
That gift has now been hijacked. We now have youngsters being read stories by drag queens. We now see pornographic books within elementary school libraries. We now have teachers looking to over sexualize children in grades K to 3.
What was once a beautiful gift has now been perverted into a twisted curse which must be uprooted.
Today's push of inappropriate books.
Per a Human Events article dated October 31, 2022: :
"PEN America has documented 2,535 individual challenges that school districts have made to books between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2022. Often these books contain sexually explicit content that educators would otherwise oppose in school plays or movie viewings. However, many of these books document their LGBTQ authors' queer or transgender experiences.
"But these books are not innocent stories of marginalized voices, as the left tries to argue in tandem with the mainstream media, framing the parents and administrators opposed to the texts as fascist book banners who want to silence minorities. They testify to the far-left's sexualization of education as an act of 'resistance' against cultural norms and social institutions including the nuclear family and religion, which progressives increasingly associate with right-wing politics."
If you share our concern over what has been taking place in our classrooms, please consider joining with us as we fight for families, for children, for education, for truth, and for common sense.
We continue to ask people whether they understand what is now taking place within our school systems. We continue to provide information and resources to help people, especially parents, gain some idea of what's being taught to kids (and why). And yes, we continue to ask people to get involved and help with the lifting.
We fight against children being taught to hate their country, to judge people based on the color of their skin, and to ignore the basic truths of biology. We fight against the sexualization in school of little ones and the destruction of the innocence of youth. Perhaps most importantly, we fight to ensure that the proper teaching of math, reading and writing remain at the forefront of a child's education.
The idea that it is parents who are responsible for raising, educating, and seeing to the well being of their kids, that is sacrosanct.
Join with us in preserving the attributes and ideals of this great nation.
Feel free to forward this newsletter to friends and family. Actually anyone who acknowledges the fundamental right of parents to raise, educate, and protect their children are invited to join with us. We are gathering a group of joyful warriors, folks who understands why (and for whom) we fight.

Follow the Founding Fathers' Lead
Per constitutionfacts.com:
"The Founding Fathers were a group of remarkable, intelligent men that ultimately changed the course of American Constitutional History. Many of them were authors and orators, some even founded libraries, most importantly, they loved to read. Among the favorites were the Bible, the classics (i.e. Cicero, Tacitus, Livy, Plutarch, etc.), and works written by Enlightenment Thinkers (John Locke, Thomas Hobbes, Baron de Montesquieu, Immanuel Kant, etc.)".
So what books did our founders especially enjoy?
The Law of Nations by Emerich de Vattel. This particular work has a story which makes it remarkable. When Washington was President, he borrowed a book from the New York Society library, and never returned it. The staff of Mount Vernon returned a copy of the work, although notably not the original.
The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy by Laurence Sterne. Tristram Shandy was a favorite of Thomas Jefferson and his wife Martha Jefferson, and throughout their marriage the two would read the story aloud to each other. It would remain a source of comfort to him during his lifetime.
Beauty and the Beast by Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont. The first English translation of this rich fairy tale appeared in America in the late 1750s. Interestingly, amidst the thousands of books that John Adams would read in his lifetime, this little gem became his favorite.
While the U.S. Constitution does not expressly discuss parental rights, the right to protect, raise, and educate your own children has been described as the oldest of our fundamental liberties.
The history and culture of Western civilization embraces a strong tradition of parental rights, and the Supreme Court of these United States has described parental rights as being "established beyond debate as an enduring American tradition." See Wisconsin v. Yoder, 406 US 205, 232 (1972).
Parents need to begin to recognize the rights they hold as parents, and make their voices heard. Only then can we hope to turn things around.
